Volunteer Opportunities – OVPB

Orangevale Pony Baseball (OVPB) is an all-volunteer, non-profit league. Family involvement is the backbone of our success and the key to building a strong community.

To encourage participation, OVPB has a Volunteer Hour Program:

  • Each family is required to complete 8 hours of service per registered player.
  • Families may choose to buy out their hours, but your time and commitment to the league are worth far more than money!

Below are the many ways you can contribute to our league and help make the season a home run:

Field Set-Up & Maintenance
  • Drag the field before games.
  • Put bases in before the game and remove them after.
  • Chalk the foul lines.
  • Water the field as needed.
Scorekeepers
  • Keep the official game score.
  • Training provided if you are new to scorekeeping.
Team Mom / Team Parent
  • Organize team communications, snacks, and schedules.
  • Organize Team Auction Baskets.
  • Plan the end of the year party with Coaches.
  • Collect Coaches Gifts at end of the Season.
  • Important: Team Moms/Parents may not be a spouse, partner, or significant other of any coach.
Manager / Head Coach
  • Lead the team, run practices, and oversee games.
  • Responsible for positive player development.
  • Must interview for the position and attend two mandatory coaches’ clinics provided by the league.
  • Live Scan and Back Ground Check Required.
  • Must take Concussion Awareness Training.
Assistant Coach
  • Support the manager with practices and games.
  • Help with on-field instruction, drills, and game management.
  • Must interview for the position and attend mandatory clinics.
  • Live Scan and Back Ground Check Required.
  • Must take Concussion Awareness Training.
Snack Bar Volunteer
  • Work a shift at the snack bar to support the league.
  • A fun and easy way to get involved and meet other families.
League Events
  • Support our Events Coordinator at fun league-wide events like:
    • Opening Day
    • Closing Ceremonies
    • Field Days

Special Notes by Division
  • Shetland Division (youngest players): Each team may have 4 coaches and 1 team mom only.
    • No additional volunteer parents are permitted, as this already provides plenty of support given the small team sizes.
Volunteer Booth & Check-In
  • A Volunteer Booth will be open at all home games.
  • Volunteers check in and out with the Board Member of the Week.
  • We are also rolling out the Volunteer Website where you can sign up for opportunities in advance.
