Managers, Coaches and Assistant Coaches

HSC § 124235 requires youth athletic leagues to comply with California concussion training & protocol. We need your support!

 

Every Manager, Coach and Assistant Coach must:

1.TAKE the FREE 20 min. Concussion in Sports certification course.

 The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) developed the content for this course.

 Go to the Course www.cifstate.org/sports-medicine/concussions

Click "Order the Course." Then, Login/Register with NFHS. Complete the ORDER of the FREE course (Don't worry, it is FREE.) Open your NFHS Dashboard and the course is active and ready. 

2. Submit your completion certificate

Email a pdf of your completion certificate to your Division VP and CC: the league registrar at registrar@ovpb.net

Failure to meet this requirement will result in forfeiture of games until compliant.  

3. Read supporting documents

Heads Up Concussion Action Plan,  the Fact Sheet for Coaches,  the Fact Sheet for Athletes and the California Concussion Protocol 

 

Every Manager must:

Collect the Parent and Athlete Information Sheet for EVERY Player on the Team. 

 Each parent must SIGN and return the Parent and Athlete Information Sheet to you. Keep the signed copy in your Manager binder.

 

Every Parent must:

Complete the Parent and Athlete Information Sheet for their player. 

 Print, read and sign the Parent and Athlete Information Sheet.

Read the  Fact Sheet for Parents, read and share with your player the Fact Sheet for Athletes and the California Concussion Protocol .
